Project: Hardy 45 European

Hardy introduces the 45 European project, an sea ocean going explorer cruiser as designed by Andrew Wolstenholme. The 45 European is based on the classic Hardy 42 hull, renowned for its seakeeping capabilities, effortlessly combining robust design with all the contemporary comforts and technologies of a modern explorer cruiser. With her expansive aft deck helm, luxurious saloon and galley, full beam owner’s stateroom aft and comfortable double forward guest cabin, the Hardy 45 European is ergonomically designed to provide plenty of personal space for all aboard. The stylish saloon and separate living quarters are fully equipped to support you in style and privacy on long adventures and days out on the water. The Hardy 45 European also transforms into an inland cruiser, featuring a low-profile design and a folding radar arch to pass under bridges effortlessly. The helm is situated on the aft deck, but you can opt for an additional internal helm position if you prefer. When cruising in open waters beyond the coast, this model seamlessly transitions between marine environments and comes into her own. Although this vessel easily traverses rivers and canals, her tried and tested hull design delivers the seakeeping of a rugged, ocean-going pilot boats a unique quality in this class of vessel. The Hardy 45 European is powered by twin Yanmar 440hp shaft drive engines as standard, reaching speeds of up to 28 knots and offering excellent fuel efficiency at displacement speed for long-range cruising. Although the standard model is equipped with twin engines, a single screw version is also available.

Sport Cruiser Goes Ablaze at Mission Harbour Fraser River

A ten meter sport cruiser went ablaze while berthed at Mission Harbour, near the Mission Bridge on the Fraser River, Canada on 05:30 early morning time of Thursday fourth April 2024.  The blaze was reported by witnesses from the Mission Bridge, as Mission Fire Rescue Service intervened for the fire with multiple crews.  Ultimately the boat sank and also damaged part of the dock which she was moored to, on its starboard side.  Following the sinking Mission Fire Rescue Service deployed a containment boom around the boat, and also recovered the discharged engine oil.  The fire left no one injured, with the cause of the blaze being under investigation by the Canadian Coast Guard.  Later in the day a contractor was given duties the following Friday to remove the sank sport cruiser, with the plan to do this on Sunday.
The sport cruiser in this fire is a Cruisers 3570 Esprit as produced from 1995 to 2000.  The 3570 Esprit came out as a replacement to the 3370 Esprit, with the model evolving into the Cruisers 3572 Express, same boat with extended bathing platform and a different cabin layout.

New Model: Pershing GTX70

The first Pershing GTX70, an agile and dynamic concentration of the innovations introduced by the GTX series, was launched last March nineteen in the port of Fano. The third model in the Sport Utility Yachts range, marks the beginning of Pershing's fortieth anniversary, delivering the sporty spirit and incredibly liveable spaces of the previous models, but in a more compact format that opens the range experience to a new type of customer. With a length of over 21 meters the GTX70, follows as the bigger GTX80 which arrived in 2024 the design direction of Vallicelli, who is assisted by Piero Ferrari guided Ferretti Group Product Strategy Committee, and the Group’s Engineering Department. The GTX70 new hull was produced at the Ferretti Group Plug and Mould facility, which brings together the brand’s advanced technology and signature craftsmanship, and the boat’s construction was completed in the new Mondolfo production area where the GTX range is built. The GTX70 bring more spacious exterior and interior spaces than on other sporty yachts of similar length, ensuring an extraordinarily comfortable experience by increasing on-board liveability and offering direct contact with the water. Pershing GTX70 extends across two decks and a sport-bridge and can accommodate up to six guests in three cabins. The exterior design, in classic Pershing grey, reprises some of the stand-out style features seen on all GTX models. The slightly convex, stanchion-free sheer line runs from bow to stern, joining up with the bulwarks on either side of the cockpit, which open out to form two terraces that significantly increase the living space in the beach area. The sleek, sweeping lines, combined with the near vertical bow, endow this model with an unrivalled elegance. The beach area aft, furnished on this first unit with the optional sun-pad incorporated in the transom structure, has a total surface of 23 squared meters when the side terraces are open. Another stand-out feature is the stern swim platform with dual linear lift technology, which increases the available space by aligning the platform with the beach area and can also be used to launch a jet ski or a Williams tender. The importance of the concept of space is clear on the main deck, which has a seamless, open design. The cockpit, which is full shaded by the sport flybridge, contains a generous C-shaped sofa and a table. As on the GTX80, the exterior and interior lounge areas are connected via the galley, thanks in part to a pocket up-down glass panel incorporated in the galley unit. Moving forward, the importance of the widebody structure is clear to see in the layout of the living space, which contains two facing L-shaped sofas that give the area an even greater sense of harmony. The colours used for the interiors of this first unit have been chosen to highlight the contrasts between different elements, such as the dark nubuck leather upholstery of the sofas paired with the muted tones of the nearby stairwell. The ceiling is decorated with LED lights strips that deliver diffused light across the entire deck space, a feature also repeated on the lower deck. The lower deck contains three cabins and three en suite bathrooms, in a layout that optimises the spaces so that guests can enjoy maximum comfort in the sleeping area too. Pershing GTX70’s sixteen square-metre sport-bridge is split into three spacious areas for sunbathing, dining and the helm station. On this model it also features the innovative electric bimini top with prepreg carbon poles, available as an option, which can be used to shade the dining area and helm station. The Pershing GTX70 is powered by triple Volvo 900hp with IPS pod propulsion for a top speed up to 35 knots and a cruising speed of thity knots. The GTX70 is also CE Class A certified, the safest for yachts under 24 meter or eighty foot.

Palm Beach Boat Show Unstoppable Challenge

In a blogger post dated May 2024, I commented how the Palm Beach boat show is growing, becoming in recent years the third North American boat show.  A year down the line the challenge is not only growing, but also becoming more important as the Palm Beach show looks to become in a year or two the second or first US boat show in size.

Palm Beach boat show is aiming high, wanting the crown as the biggest boat show in the most important boating market of the planet.  As an example the 2025 Palm Beach boat show featured more super yachts to the Fort Lauderdale show, and apart this detail, the novelties presented in size upwards of ten meters were as much if not more to those of the Miami show.  One famous boating publication, Boating International also said that the Palm Beach is becoming the first US show for big yachts.

The debuts at the 2025 Palm Beach show were again important, with three Italian builders making World new model debuts at the show; Azimut, Pardo, and Tankoa, and another important name like Grand Banks, also presenting a new 62 model.  Another debut, and probably the most important one on a national USA level was also that of Scout which publicly unveiled the 670 LXF, which is not only the South Carolina boat builder new flagship, expanding its size by fourteen foot, but the largest center console ever made.  But other important notes to take from the Palm Beach show, was also Viking who presented itself officially to the show for the first time, rather then by one of its dealers.

So the way things are moving the Palm Beach is set to become the other boat show of the USA. Because of its timing in end of Winter early Spring, the Miami boat show is the one in this cross road, rather then Fort Lauderdale which is held in mid fall.

It will be interesting to find out the success of the Palm Beach boat show, the visitors are about half to what Miami brings for example; 50,000 versus 100,000.  But then many times the quality of the visitors is more important to that of the visiting numbers alone.  It is a bit the analogy of the Cannes Boating Festival versus Genoa Boat show.  Cannes has similar visiting numbers of about 50,000 to the boat show in Palm Beach, but if you ask the boat builders, many will tell you in the past decade or so it is the show to be, and they do especially in the bigger twenty meters plus sizes prefer it to Genoa show which scores 150% more visitors.

The results of the latest research conducted by the prestigious Hurun Research Institute have seen the Shipyard awarded as the "Best Innovative Yacht Brand" and the revolutionary Seadeck 7 awarded the title of “Luxury Hybrid Yacht Best New Arrival.”  Azimut is recognized, yet again, as a pioneer of innovation in the nautical sector, winning two important awards at the Best of the Best Awards 2025, presented by the Hurun Research Institute based on the results of the Hurun Chinese Luxury Consumer Survey.  Every year, the Hurun Research Institute, an authoritative research center linked to the Chinese business and lifestyle magazine of the same name, analyzes the preferences of high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) in China through a survey conducted on a panel of 750 HNWIs, with an average wealth of 47.5 million CNY (equivalent to 6.5 million US dollars) and an investable wealth of 12 million CNY (1.6 million US dollars). Among them, 32 are UHNWIs, exceeding 100 million CNY (14 million US dollars) in wealth.  During the awards ceremony held in Shanghai, the Shipyard was awarded as the “Best Innovative Yacht Brand”. This title, already given to Azimut in a previous edition of the award, celebrates the Shipyard’s unending search for cutting-edge solutions to offer a unique experience to its owners.  In addition, the revolutionary Seadeck 7 received the prestigious "Luxury Hybrid Yacht Best New Arrival" award, underlining the revolutionary impact of this model on the market. As the first production yacht to integrate a hybrid-electric system with Volvo Penta IPS propulsion, the Seadeck 7 allows a reduction in CO₂ emissions of up to 40% in an average year of use, offering a concrete alternative for an owner attentive to sustainability without compromising comfort and performance.  With this double success at the Best of the Best Awards 2025, Azimut confirms its role as a reference in luxury yachting and strengthens its presence in China, where, since 2006, it has delivered around 200 boats to local owners. This milestone is yet another testament to the success of the brand and its ability to anticipate market trends, as it charts the course towards an increasingly innovative and sustainable future.

Cantieri di Pisa Refit Division Sees Wave of Orders

Intense activity continues to be the story at Cantieri di Pisa, starting with its refit division, which in the last three years has seen a surge in demand.  Among the numerous boats undergoing work at the yard, over thirty yachts at present, there are three superyachts built by some of the world’s most important builders: a 50-metre Benetti, a 41-metre Feadship and a 43-metre Perini Navi sailing yacht, all close to being handed back to their owners.

Cranchi at Fuorisalone with Immersio Temporis

From April 7th to 13th, the historic Palazzo Clerici, located in the heart of the Brera Design District, will host this impressive installation that explores the concept of time through a dual immersion, both physical and metaphorical. "Immersio Temporis" is an interpretation of design and nautical art that transcends temporal boundaries and reimagines the perception of time, in a sensory experience that blends beauty, innovation, and tradition.  The installation invites the viewer to look upwards from an unusual perspective. This new viewpoint transforms the perception of the surrounding environment: the hull, suspended between sky and earth, represents a crystallized moment, a point of equilibrium where time seems to suspend itself. It plays with the concepts of fluidity and change, much like water, which holds stories and memories. The blue fabrics—evocative of water and made from 500 square meters of printed crystal fabric—suggest continuity and immutability.  The gaze is then drawn to the solid anchoring to the ground, symbolizing the foundations on which Cranchi Yachts has built its success since 1870. The work creates a strong contrast between the perception of lightness and the solidity of its very structure.

The deal for a Greenline 45 Coupe was inked at boot Düsseldorf 2025, with the funds received in early February. It was an entirely positive experience, according to Greenline Yachts.  “We have been allowing customers to pay in Bitcoin since 2018, but this is the first one to take us up on it,” said Greenline owner Vladimir Zinchenko. “We have got close a couple of times, but never cleared the final hurdle. This time it was different, and the transaction proceeded very smoothly. We would welcome future payments in cryptocurrency.”  The buyer was introduced by Yacht Partners International in Greece, and he quickly reached the contract stage for the 45 Coupe. Signing at Düsseldorf allowed him to benefit from Greenline’s usual boat show offer, providing an express build slot for summer delivery the same year. This approach allows for a structured and effective organization of the entire production cycle, coordinating departments and optimizing every phase of construction.

Maiora M|36 is the perfect fusion of innovation and tradition, a refined synthesis of functionality and timeless elegance, offering an exclusive and uncompromising onboard experience. With a length of 37 meters and a beam of over eight meters, the Maiora M|36 is spread across three decks, ensuring generous and sophisticated spaces. The layout includes five cabins, accommodating up to 12 guests, with the owner’s suite on the main deck and four guest suites on the lower deck, striking the perfect balance between privacy and conviviality. The Maiora M|36 is the result of a collaboration with Quartostile, a design studio renowned for its prestigious experience in the yachting sector including the award-winning Maiora 36 Exuma, as well as in the automotive industry, with high-profile partnerships such as Giugiaro and Maserati. While the exterior design bears the signature of Quartostile, the interior spaces have been crafted by Acube Design, an architectural studio with over twenty years of experience in the industry. Quartostile and the Maiora team worked together to develop a vision that goes beyond traditional boundaries, transforming the yacht into a natural extension of the sea. Architectural solutions ensure a seamless connection between interior and exterior, where the horizon becomes an integral part of the onboard experience. The profile of the Maiora M|36 has been meticulously designed to evoke a sense of dynamism, achieved through a refined interplay of acceleration and volume, creating a perception of movement even when the yacht is at anchor. Bold yet sophisticated lines converge in a captivating interplay of light and shadow, where the hull blends harmoniously with expansive glass surfaces and the warmth of teak, enhancing the yacht’s elegance and fluidity. The outdoor areas, the heart of life on board, offer guests a direct and immersive connection with the sea, thanks to meticulously designed spaces where the full-beam bow and openable stern redefine the concept of onboard living. The main deck unfolds as a seamless continuum between interior and exterior spaces. At the stern, fold-down bulwarks and a concealed, walkable pool cover elevate versatility on board. Additionally, a carefully planned height distribution brings the cockpit closer to the sea, enhancing the usability of the space in an entirely new way. This sense of continuity extends into the salon, where opening side windows dissolve physical barriers, creating a fully immersive experience in direct contact with the sea, eliminating any separation between indoors and outdoors. At the bow, the full-beam owner’s suite features expansive windows, dissolving physical boundaries and fostering an intimate connection with the sea. On the upper deck, the generous space and seamless continuity from stern to bow ensure exceptional flexibility, allowing for a fully customizable configuration tailored to the owner’s preferences. The expansive lounge, dining area, bar, and sunbathing spaces create a truly unique atmosphere, further enhanced by breath-taking panoramic views of the surrounding seascape. The Pilot House, positioned independently, has been designed to provide optimal control and outstanding visibility, thanks to its 180-degree panoramic view towards the bow. Completing this layout of ultimate comfort are the four guest suites on the lower deck, dedicated to ensuring an exclusive and relaxing stay. The interiors of the Maiora M|36, developed by Acube Design in collaboration with the shipyard’s Centro Stile, embody the beauty of simplicity through organic forms and natural materials, creating spaces designed for comfort, practicality, and well-being. Fluid shapes lie at the heart of this project: moving away from rigid geometries, the design draws inspiration from the natural flow of marine elements, with soft curves and continuous surfaces that enhance a sense of harmony and relaxation. The Maiora M36 is powered by twin Man 2200hp or MTU 2640hp with top speeds up to 24 knots with the small engines and thirty knots for the optional larger units.  The first Maiora M|36 unit will be built in Viareggio, at the shipyard’s prestigious production site, which features eight dedicated stations for yacht construction, and is set to hit the water in Summer 2026.
